XYZ Homework charges your card only when you pay on the activation page yourself. The free trial, and the notice that counts it down, cost nothing. A Student Access Code activates your account with no payment on the site.

An account with active access does not need another payment or access code. XYZ Homework does not offer renewal or early renewal. If you are asked to activate after paying or redeeming a code, check Paid, but still asked to activate before trying again.

The rules for refunds and cancelling are in the XYZ Homework Terms of Use, under “Cancellation & Refund Policy”. This page sums up what they say.

When you’re charged

  • You pay under OPTION 2 on the Activate Your Account page. Each payment is a single charge, not a subscription: the Terms of Use call XYZ Homework “a one-time fee”. Paid access has an end date. When it runs out, XYZ Homework asks you to activate again.
  • The price and the Total are shown before you pay.
  • Card payments are handled by Stripe. The checkout page says “Payments are securely processed by Stripe”.

Don't pay twice

If the payment page seems slow, wait for it to finish instead of paying again. If you see “Payment received - activating your account”, keep that page open until it finishes. If a message ends “Do NOT attempt to pay again.”, don’t pay again: write down the order number it shows and contact support.

If you see “Please wait a moment before trying again.”, “Your payment is processing. We will email you a receipt as soon as it clears.” or “Your payment was not completed. Please try again.”, don’t pay again straight away. Wait a few minutes, then go back to the activation page. If it says “Your account is active” and “No additional payment or access code is needed.”, you don’t need to pay. A receipt email can take a while to arrive, so if you’re not sure whether a payment went through, contact support before you try again.

Your receipt

After a card payment you see “Payment Successful!”. Depending on which payment form you got, you may also see “Your order number is:” with a number (write it down) and a line that starts “A receipt has been sent to”, followed by the email address you typed for your receipt. If those lines aren’t there, “Payment Successful!” still means your payment went through. Keep the receipt email, because support may ask for it.

If you can’t find the receipt, check the spam or junk folder of that email account. If it isn’t there, contact support from the email on your XYZ Homework account.

If you bought a Student Access Code from a bookstore, your receipt is the one the bookstore gave you.

Refunds

The Terms of Use say: “Refunds can be given for 15 days after payment on request.”

There’s no refund button in XYZ Homework. To ask for a refund, email support@xyzhomework.com. The Terms ask you to include:

  • your name;
  • your school;
  • your course;
  • a short explanation of why you’re asking for a refund.

Send it from the email on your XYZ Homework account, and never include your card number.

Might drop the course? Wait to pay

The Terms of Use ask students who may drop their course to wait to pay until they’re confident they won’t drop. Use your free trial first. The notice at the top of the page shows the date it ends.

Cancelling your account

To cancel your account, contact support@xyzhomework.com, as explained in the Terms of Use. There’s no cancel button in the product.

A charge you don’t recognize, or two charges

Check whether you paid on two XYZ Homework accounts, or paid twice while the page was loading. Then contact support from the email on your account, and forward the receipt emails. See Contact support: what to include.
