Use this page only if your instructor gave you a Course ID (a number). If your class uses Canvas, D2L Brightspace, Blackboard or Moodle, don’t do this: open XYZ Homework from your LMS instead. See Opening XYZ Homework from your LMS.

Make only one account

If you already have an XYZ Homework account, from this class, another class, or your LMS, don’t create another one. Log in with it and skip to the steps under Enroll in your class, below. Your work, payment and access code stay on the account they were made on. See I think I have two XYZ Homework accounts.

If your only account came from your LMS and you were never asked to choose a password for it, you can’t log in to it here. Contact XYZ Homework support before you make a new account.

Create your account

Sign up with an email address you check often. It becomes your username. Your 15-day free trial starts when you create the account, not when you enroll, so sign up when you’re ready to enroll.

  1. Go to www.xyzhomework.com/login. Under Create an Account, choose Student.

  2. The Student Account Request page opens. Fill in First Name, Last Name, Email, Password and Confirm Password.

Your password needs at least 8 characters, with at least one letter and one number. Follow the Phone field’s label and instructions on the form. If it is marked optional, you may leave it empty. If it is marked required, enter your own number in the format the form asks for.

  3. Tick I have read and agree to the Terms of Use. If it isn’t ticked, your browser won’t send the form and points you to the box. The box for text messages is optional.

  4. Choose Request Account. Your account is created right away, and the page shows “Account Created!”.

  5. Choose Log In Now. Signing up doesn’t log you in.

  1. On www.xyzhomework.com/login, type the email you signed up with in Username.

  2. Type your password in Password and choose Login.

Enroll in your class

  1. On your XYZ Homework home page, under Taking, choose Enroll in a New Class. On a phone, choose Menu first.

  2. The Enroll in a Course page opens. Type the number your instructor gave you in Course ID.

If the page also has an Enrollment Key box, type the key only if your instructor gave you one. Otherwise leave it empty.

  3. Choose Sign Up. You see “You have been enrolled in course ID” and the number.

  4. Go back to your home page. Your class is listed under Courses you’re taking. Choose the course name to open it.

Do your work while logged in to this account. That is where your instructor sees your scores.

If enrolling doesn’t work

MessageWhat to do
“Please include Course ID.”Type the Course ID. It is a number.
“Course not found.”Check the number with your instructor. This message also appears when the number is right but your instructor hasn’t opened the course yet.
“Course is closed for self enrollment. Contact your instructor for access.”Only your instructor can let you in.
“Please include Enrollment Key.” or “Incorrect Enrollment Key.”Ask your instructor for the key and try again.
“You are already enrolled in the course.”You’re already in. Choose the course name on your home page.

Most of these pages have a Try Again link that takes you back to the form.

If creating the account doesn’t work

MessageWhat to do
“Email is already taken.”You already have an account with that email. Don’t make another one. Log in, or reset your password.
“Password must contain at least one letter and one number.”Use at least 8 characters, including a letter and a number.
“Passwords do not match.”Type the same password in Password and Confirm Password.
“The phone must be 10 digits.”For this message, enter your 10-digit phone number without a leading 1 or +1. Leave the field empty only if the form marks it optional and you haven’t selected text messages.
“Add a phone number to receive texts, or uncheck SMS messages.”Follow the form’s phone instructions. If you don’t want text messages, leave that box unticked; a separately required phone field still needs a number.
“Phone number is already registered.”Another account already has that phone number, possibly one you made earlier. Check whether you already have an account, or contact support before creating another one. Don’t use someone else’s number.
