If your class uses Canvas, D2L Brightspace, Blackboard or Moodle, you open XYZ Homework from inside your course there. You don’t sign up or enroll at xyzhomework.com unless your instructor tells you to.

Open an assignment

  1. Sign in to your LMS and open your course.

  2. Find the XYZ Homework assignment your instructor posted and click it.

  3. The assignment opens. It may open in a new tab or window. That is normal, and your work still counts.

If you see Popup blocked, click to open in a new window, click that link.

The first time, you may see a page that asks you to sign in or create an account before the assignment opens. See The first time: connect your account.

The first time: connect your account

The first time you open XYZ Homework from your LMS, you may see a page that asks you to sign in or create an account. If you see this page again later, sign in with the same account. Don’t create a new one. Some courses create the account automatically and open the assignment without this page.

  • If you have ever used XYZ Homework before, sign in with that account.
  • Only if you have never had an XYZ Homework account, create one.

The page and each choice are explained in XYZ Homework asks me to Sign In or Create Account.

Don't make a second account

If you already have an XYZ Homework account, creating another one splits your work, payment and access code across two accounts. If this has happened, see I think I have two XYZ Homework accounts.

Your free trial

You may see a line at the top of the page that says your grace period expires on a date. That is your free trial, and the date is when it ends. Activate your account before then to keep using XYZ Homework. See Your free trial and activating your account.

Always open assignments from your LMS

  • Use the LMS link every time, for every XYZ Homework assignment.
  • Don’t also enroll with a Course ID at xyzhomework.com unless your instructor tells you to. Work you do in a class you joined that way may not reach your LMS gradebook.
  • Your scores go back to your LMS gradebook through the XYZ Homework assignment links in your LMS course. If a score is missing, see My XYZ Homework score isn’t in my LMS.
  • Stay inside the assignment you opened. If you leave it and go to your XYZ Homework home page (the list of your courses) in the same browser, you may be signed out. If that happens, open the assignment from your LMS again.
