Use these troubleshooting steps when a graphing tool, LMS launch or support link doesn’t work as you expect. If the steps don’t help, tell support what you see, which browser you use and when it happened.

The graphing toolbar needs a mouse or touch

On questions where you draw a graph, the toolbar under the graph (it starts with Clear All and Draw:) works only with a mouse, trackpad or touch screen. You can’t reach it with the Tab key.

Workaround: switch to the keyboard alternative. You then add each part of the graph from a list instead of drawing it.

  1. Open your preferences. At xyzhomework.com, choose User Settings in the header or profile menu. Inside an assignment you’ve started, open ⋮ More options and choose User Preferences.

  2. Under Drawing Entry, choose Keyboard and text-based drawing entry alternative.

  3. Choose Update Info, then reload the assignment. If saving took you to your home page, open the assignment again.

In keyboard mode you pick an element from Add new drawing element and choose Add. If you use a screen reader, you can also set Graph Display to Text alternatives - tables or charts in place of graphs.

In the usual mouse mode, to redraw a graph you click Clear All. It erases everything on that graph and can’t be undone. For more, see Graphing questions and Accessibility features.

Assignments inside your LMS open blank or keep asking you to sign in

In Canvas, D2L Brightspace, Blackboard or Moodle, an XYZ Homework assignment can stay blank, keep loading, or keep sending you back to a sign-in page. Browser privacy settings, launch information or session problems can be involved.

Workaround: open the assignment in a new tab or window. See XYZ Homework is blank or asks me to sign in again inside my LMS.

An LMS error message says to turn on cookies

Some XYZ Homework error messages mention cookies. Browsers handle embedded sign-in differently, and the message alone doesn’t identify why the launch failed.

Workaround: go back to your course and open the assignment again, and if the message returns, open it in a new tab or window. See the message about cookies.

If a Students page link won’t open

If a guide or browser-check link on the Students page of xyzhomework.com doesn’t open for you, use the student guides here and tell support which link failed.

Start with Opening XYZ Homework from your LMS or Joining a class with a Course ID. If a page won’t load for you, see Pages won’t load, keep spinning, or look broken.

Report a problem

If you’ve found a problem that isn’t on this list, or a workaround here doesn’t help, tell us. See Contact support: what to include. Include what you were doing, the exact message if there was one (a screenshot helps), your browser and device, and roughly when it happened. Never send your password.
